Furuno Radar Guiding Saildrone’s Expanding Fleet Of Cutting-Edge Unmanned Surface Vehicles
Featured Topics
Furuno is proud of our continued partnership with Saildrone, a global leader in autonomous ocean data collection and maritime surveillance, as they expand operations and develop the next-generation capabilities of their fleet of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs).
Furuno’s Radar Technology Powers Saildrone’s Advanced Surveillance and Monitoring Missions
With over 100 Furuno DRS4D-NXT Solid-State Doppler Radars already installed across their fleet, Saildrone is integrating Furuno’s powerful DRS25A-NXT Solid-State Doppler Radars aboard advanced military and government drones to meet more demanding surveillance and monitoring missions.
Furuno has been the standard Radar across the entire Saildrone fleet, delivering reliable performance in the most remote and challenging environments imaginable.
With a focus on minimal maintenance and seamless integration, Saildrone is a prime example of the success of Furuno’s Radar SDK (Software Development Kit) program, which allows OEM developers to tap into the full power of Furuno's Solid-State Doppler Radars within their own software ecosystem.
“Saildrone’s success showcases the flexibility, dependability, and durability of our NXT Radar line,” said Matt Wood, National Sales Manager of Furuno USA. “They’re operating in some of the harshest marine environments without the luxury of hands-on support, and our commercial-grade Radar systems continue to deliver day in and day out.”
Saildrone’s USVs Enhance Global Maritime Security and Research Capabilities
Saildrone's USVs help governments around the world improve maritime domain awareness, to counter drug trafficking, migrant crossings, and illegal fishing, protect critical marine infrastructure, and support seafloor mapping and weather and climate research.
Their recent expansion into Europe, with a new base of operations in Copenhagen, underscores the growing demand for autonomous maritime capabilities across commercial, scientific, and defense sectors.
With no signs of slowing down, Saildrone continues to rely on Furuno to deliver the performance and reliability they need to push the limits of autonomous technology at sea. For more information about Saildrone, visit www.saildrone.com.
