Fast Target Tracking™
Fast Target Tracking™ (Fast TT) is a technology that instantaneously shows a vector representing the target's speed and heading.
Fast Target Tracking™ (Fast TT) is a sophisticated feature incorporated into many of Furuno's marine radar systems.
This technology is designed to enhance navigational safety by providing users with real-time updates on the movements of other vessels or targets in their vicinity.
By automatically detecting and tracking targets at speed, Fast TT allows mariners to make informed and timely decisions to avoid potential hazards.
When clicking on target and tracking a target with the Fast TT, the vector is quickly displayed. With conventional TT, it takes several minutes. When the target turns counterclockwise, with the Fast TT, vector also instantaneously reacts. With conventional TT, response time is much longer.
With conventional TT, there's a delay in showing the velocity vector to forecast a target's path after selection. In contrast, Fast TT allows for immediate target tracking from the outset, enabling instant trajectory calculations and velocity vector display. This technology is especially beneficial in crowded waters as it can instantly monitor any target.
"This is crucial technology for marine safety because it allows vessels to quickly and accurately identify and monitor moving targets, reducing the risk of collisions in busy maritime environments. This real-time data empowers crews to make informed decisions, ensuring safe navigation even in the most challenging conditions."
Once target is selected, a speed vector (course prediction result) is instantly displayed

Line of sight of a Radar
Radar waves propagate along Earth's surface, but due to diffraction effect, these waves propagate in a slightly curved manner. The degree of diffraction is determined by many factors including atmosphere density. In general, the diffraction curve allows the wave to go beyond the line-of-sight by about 6%

Thanks to its sophisticated algorithm, the Fast TT boasts superior tracking performance over conventional TTs. It effectively resolves the acquisition focus bug (where the acquisition mark shifts to a nearby target) commonly encountered with multiple targets. Furthermore, the Fast TT excels in tracking other vessels executing sharp turns.
These radars were developed to guarantee situational awareness as they reliably and instantaneously indicate the speed and heading of targets.
