DIMITRIS SPIROU

Furuno Hellas Fishing Team

Dimitris lives in Corfu. He has been a Furuno authorized dealer since 2011 and is an electronic engineer. As a child, he developed a love for fishing. Today, he is one of the four Greek power users of Furuno Hellas. He tests new fishfinders and, through his reports, works to resolve issues and make the devices more user-friendly. He fishes using almost all modern techniques, including slow pitch jigging, tai rubber, soft lures, and others.

DIMITRIS PAPADAKOS

Furuno Hellas Fishing Team

Dimitris was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he still lives today. His journey with Furuno equipment began in 2013, when he joined the Furuno Hellas Fishing Team. That experience marked the beginning of a long-standing relationship with the company and allowed him to gain extensive hands-on experience with Furuno products. In 2018, he became an official Furuno dealer. For the past four years, he has been working at Furuno Hellas in the Fishing and Yachting Department, providing technical support and helping anglers make the most of their marine electronics. His main passion is boat fishing, with a particular focus on modern fishing techniques such as slow jigging, soft plastic lure fishing, and live bait fishing. Combining years of practical fishing experience with in-depth technical knowledge of Furuno equipment allows him to support both recreational and professional anglers in getting the best performance from their electronics on the water.

VANGELIS KANAKIS

Furuno Hellas Fishing Team

Vangelis was born in Piraeus, Greece, where he still lives today. His journey with Furuno began in 2005 as a user of its marine electronics. In 2009, he joined Furuno Hellas, where he currently serves as Manager of the Fishing and Yachting Department. He is also a founding member of the Furuno Hellas Fishing Team. Driven by his passion for fishing and boating, his primary responsibility is the sales and business development of Furuno marine electronics for the fishing and yachting markets. In parallel, he works closely with his team and collaborates with Furuno Japan and colleagues around the world to develop innovative products, advanced technologies, and new features for the leisure and sportfishing markets. Their goal is to create solutions that meet the evolving needs of anglers while delivering outstanding performance, reliability, and an exceptional user experience.

STEFANOS GIOTIS

Furuno Hellas Fishing Team

Stefanos is a professional fisherman with a true passion for the sea. His favorite fishing technique is live bait fishing, where precision and experience make all the difference. He has trusted FURUNO marine electronics since 2012, and in 2013, he was honored to become a Furuno Prostaff member. He is proud to represent a brand that has supported his success on the water for many years.

HELMEPA

Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association

HELMEPA (Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association) is a Greek non-profit organization founded in 1982 by seafarers and shipowners to promote the protection of the marine environment and enhance safety at sea. It works to prevent marine pollution from ships, raise environmental awareness, and provide training and educational programs for maritime professionals and young people. Through industry cooperation, environmental campaigns, and its well-known “Marine Environment Awareness” initiatives in schools, HELMEPA plays a key role in promoting sustainable shipping and ocean conservation in Greece and internationally. In partnership with HELMEPA, FURUNO HELLAS actively contributes to environmental initiatives aimed at preserving Greece’s coastlines. Through this meaningful collaboration, our team participates in the cleanup of a designated “adopted” beach 2–3 times per year, dedicating early morning work hours to hands-on environmental action. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to marine sustainability and responsible maritime practices. By working alongside HELMEPA, we strengthen the connection between the maritime industry and environmental stewardship, turning awareness into tangible impact. The collaboration not only helps protect fragile coastal ecosystems but also fosters team spirit, employee engagement, and a culture of corporate responsibility within our organization.

Ribbing for Arctic

Climate change awareness expedition

Ribbing for Arctic is an unprecedented expedition that achieved the crossing of the Arctic Ocean in a semi-rigid boat. Furuno Hellas, along with other subsidiaries such as Furuno Italia, Furuno France, and Furuno España, collaborated on this mission by providing essential electronic equipment on board. The main objective of the expedition was to raise public awareness about the serious consequences of climate change, documenting its effects on the marine environment and Arctic wildlife, as well as providing medical and material support to remote Inuit communities.
